چکیده

This paper reports on a case study that was conducted to investigate infrastructure requirements for enterpriseenabled, ubiquitous workspaces of the future. We first set the context for future work environments by reviewing current research activities in the areas of intelligent interactive rooms and enterprise computing. The work reported in this paper involved integrating MIT’s Metaglue multi-agent, ubiquitous computing infrastructure with an enterprise bus and workflow capability derived from DSTC’s Open Distributed Services Infrastructure (ODSI), a framework for future enterprise computing systems.

Using Workspace Simulation to Support the Evaluation of LiveSpaces for Synchronised Planning Activities

Ubiquitous workspaces are technology and media rich environments that support intense collaborative activities through the application of ubiquitous computing, artificial intelligence, and advanced human interaction approaches. These environments are highly interactive and intelligent spaces created through the augmentation of physical workspaces, such as meeting rooms, with a range of display ...

Extending tuplespaces for coordination in interactive workspaces

The current interest in programming models and software infrastructures to support ubiquitous and environmental computing is heightened by the falling cost of hardware and the ubiquity of local-area wireless networking technologies. Interactive workspaces are technologically augmented team-project rooms that represent a specific sub-domain of ubiquitous computing. We argue both from related wor...

A SIOC Enabled Explorer of Shared Workspaces

Shared Workspaces are getting more and more popular in helping people collaborate. However, it’s difficult for user to search information across different Shared Workspaces since they are currently islands that are not interlinked. Based on semantic web technologies, SIOC provide ontology and tools to interlink online communities. By using SIOC to develop an explorer for Shared Workspaces, we m...

The Interactive Workspaces Project: Experiences with Ubiquitous Computing Rooms

Introduction The Interactive Workspaces project was started at Stanford University in mid-1999 as an extension of a project to investigate interaction with large high resolution displays. It was initially set up in a busy laboratory where the device proved to be no more than a curiosity, since it could not be practically used for long periods of time and offered little integration with other de...

Integration of Cloud Services for Web Collaboration: A User-Centered Perspective

The ubiquitous and pervasive availability of the Internet, and of Web-based services, is dramatically changing people’s lives. Meanwhile, man’s presence on the Web is growing fast, enabled by the offerings of low-cost devices and wireless broad-band Internet connections. On the other hand, users are adopting on-line applications and services more and more, both for personal and business purpose...
